Inter have suffered a setback ahead of the new season with the news that Esteban Cambiasso requires knee surgery.

The Argentinian midfielder suffered the knock playing in a friendly match against Juventus on Friday.

Inter have now confirmed that the former Real Madrid man will undergo surgery that will see him miss the start of the new season.

“The results of tests showed Esteban Cambiasso suffered an injury to the lateral meniscus of the right leg,” read a statement on the club’s official website.

“Inter’s medical staff will perform an arthroscopic operation, which will be scheduled in the next few days.”
