Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho will undergo a back scan on Monday after he became the latest player to join the club’s growing injury list.
The Portuguese international was substituted during the first half of Chelsea’s 1-1 Premier League draw with Everton at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Chelsea are already without first choice goalkeeper Peter Cech and defenders John Terry, Ashley Cole and Paulo Ferreira.
Manager Avram Grant told reporters after Sunday’s match: “We have too many injuries. It is not easy to play without all the back four and goalkeeper from the last few months. This is the reason we have a big squad, but it is unusual.”
