Celtic are reported to be planning a move for Bolton’s Jay-Jay Okocha as talks on a new contract for the Nigerian midfielder, hit deadlock.

Okocha is out of contract in the summer, and has shown little indication that he will sign a new deal with the club.

Bolton chairman Phil Gartside said: “Talks have been on the go for a long time but we’re not that close.”

Okocha is reportedly on £30,000-a-week at Bolton, but Celtic could have cash available after Henrik Larsson leaves in the summer. Moreover, Celtic could offer Champions League football to a player appproaching the end of his career. .
