Manchester United v Fenerbahce
Wayne Rooney is the star attraction at Old Trafford tonight as the 18-year-old is expected to make his debut for United against Fenerbahce.

Ferguson’s side have upped their early season form following the return of Rio Ferdinand at the heart of defence and the inclusion of £27 million signing Rooney may further elevate their recent good performances.

“He is likely to be involved, said Sir Alex. “I am just mulling over whether to start him or put him on the bench.”

The attacking force of Rooney, Van Nistelrooy, Giggs and Ronaldo is a daunting prospect for the Turkish side.

Fenerbahce striker Pierre Van Hooijdonk believes the strike partnership in particular looks formidable.

“Rooney alongside Ruud will be a really dangerous combination, probably one of the best in the competition,” said the Dutch striker.

Van Hooijdonk himself poses a considerable threat, the former Feyenoord player is a free-kick specialist and will be looking to extend his side’s lead in the group following their opening day win over Sparta Prague.
