Chelsea have denied makinga €40 million bid for Real Madrid’s Spanish international Sergio Ramos.
It had been thought the talented central defender was a target for manager Carlo Ancelotti following Ricardo Carvalho’s summer exit to Real.
The Blues have now confirmed that they have not bid for the 24-year-old World Cup winner.
“It is absolutely false,” confirmed Sporting director Frank Arnesen. ”We haven’t made any bid for Ramos.
“What did surprise us is that a person called us on behalf of the player to see if we were interested in signing him.”
