Chelsea have confirmed that defender Paulo Ferreira has broken a bone in his foot.
The Portuguese full-back limped out of his country’s midweek international with Slovakia and he now faces a month on the sidelines.
“He has broken the fifth metatarsal in his right foot and it will be operated on,” said club doctor Bryan English.
“He’ll be out of hospital within 24 hours.”
