Ajax have been dealt a huge blow after learning that Cristian Chivu and Zlatan Ibrahimovic will have to face domestic bans for violent conduct.
The incidents took place during Ajax’s cup defeat against Feyenoord in a game which saw Pierre van Hooijdonk sent off.
The Dutch FA’s video panel gave Zlatan a five match ban for a use of an elbow and Chivu a three game ban for a dangerous tackle.
The two are regarded as Ajax’s best players and the respective bans come as a huge blow as the club bid to secure the second available Champion’s League spot.
Ajax currently lie in second place, only one point ahead of Feyenoord.
