Roma have struck a deal with Real Madrid to sign Brazilian full-back Cicinho.

Roma confirmed the deal on their Web site (www.asroma.it) and said the player would arrive at the Italian club on Thursday. The fee is believed to be in the region of €6m

“The club sincerely thanks the Brazilian player for his work and wishes him the best of luck in his career,” said a Real statement.

The 27-year-old defender joined Real from Sao Paulo in December 2005 for an estimated fee of €5m.

However, after tearing the cruciate ligament in his right knee in September 2006 he played only seven games last season.
