Ashley Cole has called for Spanish coach Luis Aragones to be sacked following the racist abuse in England’s 1-0 defeat in Madrid.

Both Cole and team-mate Shaun Wright-Phillips were subjected to racial abuse from sections of the crowd.

The Arsenal defender blamed Aragones after comments he made last month about his team-mate Thierry Henry.

“Surely the Spanish FA must get rid of him now,” Cole told the News of the World newspaper.

“To me it was Aragones who started everything that happened. So it’s surely no surprise that the fans then behaved as they did.

“And still their manager has not condemned it – it’s as if he agrees with it. If you don’t condemn it then then you must condone it.”

Cole came face-face with Aragones during the game, at which point the Arsenal player admitted he “pushed him back”.

“It was stupid and I shouldn’t have done it – but I was furious,” said Cole

“The way he looked at me – he had so much anger in his face. He didn’t say anything but the look on his face was evil.”
