Hernan Crespo scored the only goal of the game Argentina beat Ecuador 1-0 in their World Cup qualifier in Buenos Aires.

Crespo scored on the hour mark to maintain Argentina’s unbeaten start to the qualifiers and take them top of the group.

In the other game in of the night, Chile overcame Bolivia 2-0 in La Paz to improve their hopes of reaching the finals.

Goals in each half from Moises Villarroel (38) and striker Mark Gonzalez (59) were enough to secure the points for Chile.
