Wales will find out on Wednesday whether their Euro 2004 qualifier against Serbia & Montenegro will go ahead as scheduled.

UEFA was due to make an announcement on the game today, but a decision has now been delayed for another 24 hours.

The Serbian & Montenegro FA contacted UEFA on Monday over safety concerns about next week’s fixture. There has been civil unrest in the country since the assassination of Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic earlier this month.

“UEFA has been holding talks since Monday with the authorities in Serbia and Montenegro, after security doubts were raised about staging the game in Belgrade, where a state of emergency is in force,” UEFA said ina statement.

“European football’s governing body asked for written details of the various concerns expressed, and the consultation process is ongoing.”
