Real Madrid have offered coach Vicente Del Bosque a one-year contract extension.

Del Bosque’s current deal expires in the summer and he is being rewarded for presiding over a goldenn period for the club. One Spanish league title and two European Cup successes have cemented Real’s position as Europe’s most successful club side.

Initially installed as coach on a temporary basis to replace John Toshack early in the 1999-2000 season, Del Bosque led Real to Champions League glory the same season.

Del Bosque has been discussing a new deal with the club’s sporting director Jorge Valdano and an official announcement is expected in April.
