Chelsea’s Spanish international Asier Del Horno looks set for a swift return to Spain after Valencia revealed they are close to signing him.
The full-back arrived at Stamford Bridge from Athletic Bilbao a year ago in a deal worth £8m, but he failed to settle in England and is eager to return to his homeland.
“We are in negotiations with Chelsea and hope to solve the situation this week,” said Valencia sporting director Amedeo Carboni.
Del Horno missed the end of the season and the World Cup because of injury.
