Chievo coach Luigi Del Neri has again denied that he is being lined up to replace Marcello Lippi at Juventus.

Juventus are thought to be considering Marcello Lippi’s position after seeing them get knocked out of the Champions League as well as dropping further behind in the Serie A title race following defeat to Milan on Sunday.

Juve are thought to have Del Neri on their list of possible replacements should Lippi be axed or as some have suggested, leave the club to replace Giovanni Trapattoni as the next coach of the Italian national team.

Del Neri admitted he is flattered to be linked with the job, but dismissed the speculation.

“These sorts of stories appear every March but then I always remain at Chievo,” he said.

“I’ll probably stay in Verona this year too. But it is nice to have your name mentioned as it means you are doing well.

“I’m honoured to have been linked but that is the only comment that I can make because these are just rumours and nothing more.”
