Chievo coach Luigi Del Neri has admitted that his side are capable of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

Del Neri has played down Chiievo’s prospects this season, claiming that he wasonly concerned with avoiding relegation. But now, as his side moved to within a point of fourth-placed Lazio, Dell Neri has set his sights higher.

“Now we are safe, we have won our first title – even if I was tearing my hair out against Torino,” saiid Del Neri.

“Our aim now is to get into the Champions League. I will be delighted for everyone at the club if we make it, but it won’t be a disaster if we don’t.”

Chievo travel to the San Siro to face third-placed Milan next Sunday, but Del Neri remains optimistic about his side’s chances.

“We are going to Milan to win,” Del Neri added.

“This season has shown us that no team can take anything for granted.

“Anyhow, games against Milan are easy to prepare for as everyone is motivated.

“Most people would pay to play at the San Siro, but instead we are paid to play there.”
