Alessandro Del Piero will today find out how long he is expected to be out for when receives the results of a test on his thigh.

The results, which were delayed in order to give Del Piero extra time to rest, are expected to confirm that the midfielder will be out for between one and two months.

The injury was sustained during Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Atalanta.

Juve manager, Marcello Lippi, commented: “He has probably suffered a thigh strain, but we will only know how long he will be out for in the next few days.”

The injury has come at a bad time for Juventus; Del Piero is their leading scorer and will be needed if Juventus are to qualify to the knock-out stages of the Champions League.

If as feared, the striker is out for two months, he will miss the crucial Champions League game against group leaders Manchester United at Old Trafford as well as the return leg in Turin.
