Deportivo La Coruna made a late comeback to mainatin their hopes of retaining the Spanish cup, despite losing 3-2 to Real Mallorca in the semi-final first-leg.

Mallorca looked certain to win the game when they took a 3-0 lead though two goals from on-loan striker Walter Pandiani and another from Cameroonian international Samuel Eto.

Deportivo waited until the 88th minute to mount a comeback when Diego Tristan netted a penalty awarded against Mallorca goalkeeper, Federico Lussenhoff. Roy Makaay then scored with what was almost the last kick of the game to make the score 3-2.

The trophy’s other semi-final is played on Thursday night between Recreativo and Atletico.
