Deportivo La Coruna president Augusto Cesar Lendoiro has criticised Newcastle over their conduct in trying to sign striker Albert Luque.

Although Newcastle claim to have reached agreement with the player over the striker’s personal terms, Depor are annoyed because no fee has been agreed between the two clubs.

Newcastle are ready to pay £8 million and offer Hugo Viana in exchange for the 27-year-old Spanish international. Depor are demanding cash payment and are unhappy with the fact that the Premiership club have conducted talks with the player before a deal has been struck.

”It’s true the English invented the rules of football, but not the rules when it comes to negotiating a deal,” said Lendoiro.

”First there has to be an agreement arrived at with Depor and afterwards with the player.”
