Former France captain Marcel Desailly says he will carry on playing for another season.

The 36-year-old, who has just won the Qatar league title with Al Gharafah, said: “Whatever happens, I’ll still play football next season.

“I don’t know where yet. It will either be one more season in Qatar or a return to Europe. I should know more about it in a few weeks,” the former Chelsea defender told his website.

Ex-Chelsea defender, Desailly, admitted he was delighted with his former club’s achievements this season.

“I share the joy of the supporters and of everybody at the club. I’ve been invited to the title celebrations and I’m looking forward to going back there.

“I’m delighted that John Terry got the (PFA Player of the Year) award. He certainly deserves it.

“It makes me proud to see him up there today because I helped him a bit at first. He worked his way up with a lot of hard work and great mental strength. Congratulations, John.”
