Spain beat Germany 1-0 to win Euro 2008, but what price are they to go on and become World Champions in South Africa in 2010?

Roberto Di Matteo has been named as the new manager of League One outfit MK Dons.

The former Italy international, 38, has signed a one-year deal with the option of a further contract and will be officially unveiled on Thursday.

Di Matteo enjoyed an illustrious playing career with Lazio and Chelsea, before retiring from the game in 2002 after failing to make a full recovery from a triple-leg fracture.

“Like the club itself, Roberto is young, ambitious and hungry to succeed,” said a club statement.

“We are enormously excited about the team moving forward under his leadership,” the statement continued.

Di Matteo replaces Paul Ince who left to succeed Mark Hughes at Blackburn last month after guiding the Dons to the League Two title last season.
