Raymond Domenech will remain as manager of France despite a disappointing showing at Euro 2008.

France finished bottom of their group, collecting just one point and scoring a solitary goal in the competition.

The nature of their elimination had prompted speculation that Domenech would be relieved of his duties, but the France Football Federation (FFF) has given its backing to the coach.

FFF president Jean-Pierre Escalettes said he was keen not to overreact despite the public condemnation of Domenech.

“Domenech’s record is not that bad as coach,” he said. “It is not catastrophic.

“He qualified us two straight times for a major competition.

“I did not want emotion and passion to get the better of reason.”
