Ireland, who sit second in their World Cup qualifying group, host Cyprus this Wednesday in what looks a fairly straight forward task.

Raymond Domenech will remain the France coach until 2010, French Football Federation (FFF) president Jean-Pierre Escalettes has confirmed.

“Raymond Domenech will remain in charge until 2010 under the terms of his contract,” Escalettes told a news conference.

Domenech was told in July that his position was dependent on an improvement in the team’s results following France’s group stage elimination from Euro 2008.

The 56-year-old appeared in danger of being sacked a few days ago, but following the comeback from 2-0 down to secure a draw against Romania on Saturday and France’s 3-1 friendly win over Tunisia on Tuesday, his position has been assured until 2010.
