Donadoni happy with Totti form

Italy coach Roberto Donadoni has been impressed with Francesco Totti’s form this season but insists he will not pressure the player into returning to the international fold.

Totti’s refusal to play for The Azzurri until 2007 in order to fully recover from an ankle injury, has drawn criticism from certain quarters.

However, Donadoni has accepted Totti’s decision and says he will wait until the Roma playmaker feels ready to make his return.

“He’s growing a lot as his fitness improves,” said Donadoni.

“It’s possible to see this and he has more faith in the ankle and he plays more on the ball.

“Probably before he was unsure. The only thing he misses is continuity. When he is ready he will get a call.

“For the moment, the dialogue that there is between us is ongoing.”
