Italy coach Roberto Donadoni is hoping to persuade influential striker Francesco Totti to continue playing for the national side.
Roma captain Totti, 29, had said before the World Cup final against France he was very likely to retire from international football, but Donadoni said: “I don’t think Totti’s decision is final.
“I will try to understand his reasons but he is still young and I hope he will decide to stay.”
Donadoni added that Totti was an indispensable player.
