Bundesliga club Duisburg have signed South Korea striker Ahn Jung-hwan from French side Metz.

“He’s the player I wanted,” Duisburg coach Juergen Kohler told reporters on Tuesday.

Ahn, is perhaps best remembered as the scorer of the goal that took South Korea past Italy and through to the quarter-finals of the World Cup four years ago .

He joined Metz last July but failed to establish himself in the team.

Duisburg are struggling at the midway point of the Bundesliga season, lying second from bottom of the table.
