Italy will be without Juventus pair Fabio Cannavaro and Mauro Camoranesi for the World Cup European qualifying Group Five match against Belarus.

Camoranesi picked up a calf injury in training and he has returned to Turin.

Italy coach Marcello Lippi said that he had agreed last week that central defender Cannavaro, who has only just returned to first team action, would not play in both qualifying matches..

“Cannavaro won’t be playing on Wednesday,” Lippi told Italian media.

“When I called him up I agreed with him that he would only play in the first match and so (Marco) Materazzi will play in his position,” added Lippi.
