The English Football Association is seeking ‘urgent talks’ with UEFA after another English club’s trip to Euroope was marrred by racist abuse from the home supporters.

Ipswich pair Marcus Bent and Finidi George were the latest victims of racist abuse when they during Town’s UEFA Cup second leg victory over FK Sartid in Yugoslavia.

The incidents followed similar abuse aimed at Thierry Henry during Arsenal’s Champions League win at PSV Eindhoven in Holland, while Liverpool’s m,black contingent were racially abused whn they played in Valencia a fortnight ago.

The FA’s director of international strategy David Davies is looking to meet UEFA officialsto discuss the incidents with a view to ddevisingg new strategies to combat racism at grounds.

He told the FA’s official website: ‘We will be seeking urgent talks with UEFA.

‘We need to step up the way in which we are looking at this issue – it is a worrying trend that it is the English clubs who seem to be suffering the most. We will sit down with UEFA to find new initiatives to tackle this problem.’
