Goalkeeper Robert Enke has been ruled out of Germany’s remaining 2010 World Cup qualifiers due to the residual effects of a stomach infection, coach Joachim Low has confirmed.

Enke pulled out of the Azerbaijan game 12 days ago due to illness and had to undergo several tests to identify the infection.

Germany are top of Group Four, a point ahead of Russia whom they play in Moscow on October 10. Their last match will be against Finland four days later.

“Robert will only train lightly in the coming weeks following advice from doctors and must also take antibiotics,” Low said in a statement.

“This means that he will not be fully fit by the time of the qualifiers in October and cannot play.”
