Sven-Goran Eriksson has denied being approached by Barcelona and confirms he is happy with his present job coaching England.
“I have not been approached by any club and that includes Barcelona,” Eriksson told the Football Association’s website.
“These reports are incorrect. I have never talked to Barcelona. Managing England is a big, big job and I am happy and proud to have it. I want to finish my job with England.”
Barcelona parted company with Dutch coach Louis van Gaal last month and appointed Radomir Antic as his temporary successor.
Eriksson, also took the opportunity to play down reports of a rift with Premier League managers over thorny issue of international call-ups.
“I am not under pressure from managers, I have a good relationship with the club managers,” said Eriksson.
“I never said that I am going to quit if I didn’t get the players. I read it in the papers but that has never been my words.”
Eriksson also dropped his biggest hint yet that he will introcuduce some uncapped players for next week’s friendly match against Australia.
“I can’t give you any names just yet, we have to wait another 24 hours,” he said.
“But what I can tell you is that there will be some new, fresh names in the squad.”
Ammong those tipped to get their first call-up are Leeds keeper Paul Robinson, Southampton striker James Beattie and Everton’s precocious 17-year-old striker Wayne Rooney.
