Cameroon striker Samuel Eto’o claims he turned down an offer from Chelsea to agree a contract extension at Primera Liga champions Barcelona.

“Chelsea made me a superior offer but money doesn’t bring happiness. I wanted to stay at this club and the president knew it,” Eto’o told sports daily Marca on Tuesday.

“My wife was worried that the weather wasn’t very good in London, but I have been able to reassure her that everything has been sorted out and we are staying in Barcelona.

“Everything is agreed and now my dream is to win the Champions League.”

Eto’o, who with 24 goals last season was the second highest goalscorer in Spain, is expected to sign a contract extension until 2010.
