Everton have agreed a club record fee of £11.75m for Middlesbrough striker Aiyegbeni Yakubu.
Boro confirmed on their website they have given the 24-year-old Nigerian permission to open negotiations with the Goodison Park club.
Portsmouth and West Ham were also interested, but the player’s preferred option was to seal a move to Goodison Park.
The Nigerian should be available to make his Everton debut against Blackburn on Saturday.
