Everton boss David Moyes is confident that striker Wayne Rooney will sign a new contact with the club.

The 18-year-old has attracted interest from several clubs with both Chelsea and Manchester United rumoured to be keen to sign him.

“The indications are he’ll sign in the summer and I’m happy,” said Moyes.

“We are building for the future here and we want to build a side around Wayne – we don’t want to develop him for another club.”

Rooney made his debut for Everton as a 16-year-old.
