Luis Fabiano has admitted that he was shocked to hear Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido claim that it would cost €60million to sign him during the winter transfer window.
As far as the player was aware, he can talk to other clubs if they offer Sevilla €11million plus a percentage to IPC, who also own a percentage of his rights.
“My price is €11million,” Fabiano told Marca. “I do not understand what the president is talking about.
“He surprised me with what he said, but if he says that the buy-out clause is €60million then I will have to have another look at my contract.”
With only 18 months left on his contract, Fabiano is hoping that his future will be resolved before the end of the season.
“I am calm and I cannot do anything now, I just have to think about my job. I’ve four months left to finish the season strongly,” he explained.
“I am more than happy to stay with Sevilla and now we have time to talk to Del Nido about renewing my deal.
“The closer it becomes to the end of my contract the more complicated things will become.
“I have until 2009 and, if I stay next season without renewing, it would be very difficult because they are going to want to sell me.
“If Sevilla are in Europe next season then they will have the money to talk about things and it will be easier.
“We shall see what happens, because if we do qualify for European football then it could make things better.”
