Bolton’s Khalilou Fadiga will consult a heart specialist as a result of his collapse before Wednesday’s Carling Cup defeat by Spurs.

Fadiga has been released from hospital, but Bolton manager Sam Allardyce revealed: “We have put him on a plane to his specialist in Belgium.

“His surgeon will check him over and give us an opinion. It’s too early to link his fainting to heart problems.

“The specialist who knows the full case history can sort it out.”

Fadiga has a history of heart problems, which forced Italian side Internazionale to terminate his contract in the summer.

Fadiga left the Italian club without a single first-team start to his name after joining them from French side Auxerre at the beginning of the 2003-04 season.
