Fenerbahce coach Christoph Daum has questioned Hakan Yakin’s move to Stuttgart, saying the Switzerland midfielder had agreed to sign for the Istanbul side.

Daum told German sports television channel DSF that he had assumed Yakin would be moving to Turkey.

Yakin moved from Basel to Stuttgart for an undisclosed transfer fee on Tuesday.

“Until the middle of last week we actually assumed that Yakin was our player,” Daum told DSF on Tuesday.

“We had reached an agreement with the player and with Basel that he would be joining us for a transfer fee of 3.5 million Swiss francs.

“I don’t know how Fenerbahce will react to this but maybe the last word has not been spoken yet.”

Yakin had been wanted by Fenerbahce before Stuttgart stepped in.
