Everton striker Duncan Ferguson has been handed a four-game ban been fined £10,000 for violent behaviour and improper conduct.

Ferguson was charged by the FA following a bustup with Leicester midfielder Steffen Freund and a subsequent gesture to the crowd. The Scot was sent off for tangling with Freund but upon receiving his marching orders Ferguson grabbed Freund around the throat and made an abusive gesture to the crowd.

The suspension begins on April 19 and Ferguson will be unavailable for Everton’s last four matches this season.
