Feyenoord president Jorien Van den Herik risks up to six months in jail for fraud over the club’s transfer dealings.

Van den Herik’s problems exacerbate depression in Rotterdam after the club’s dramatic elimination from Europe after their 3-2 home defeat by Newcastle United.

The six-month prison sentence is being demanded by the prosection in the tax fraud case arising out of Feyenoord’s purchases of Australian Aurelio Vidmar in 1995 and Ghanaians Patrick Allotey and Christian Gyan the followingseason.

Lawyers for Van den Herik and Feyenoord deny the allegations which come back for verdict and possible sentence on Friday.
