Fifa has suspended the Iranian foootball federation for governmental interference and a failure to adhere to the ruling body’s statutes.

FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation set a deadline of November 15 for the federation’s elected president Mohammed Dadgan to be reinstated.

The FIFA Emergency Committee took the decision after finding the federation was not adhering to statutes regarding the independence of member associations.

FIFA and the AFC adopted the position that Dadgan and the members of his board remained the legitimate president and authority. The deadline was not met however.
