Real Madrid supremo Florentino Perez has moved to quell reports suggesting Luis Figo will leave the club, insisting the Portuguese international is staying at the Bernabeu.

Persistent rumours linking David Beckham with a move to the European champions has fuelled speculation that Luis Figo would be the man to make way for the Manchester United midfielder.

However, the Real president assured Figo that that his future is secure, even if the club do sign Beckham.

“Luis Figo remains with Real Madrid with a hundred out of a hundred of possibilities,” stated Perez. “Without any type of doubt.

“It’ll succeed that it happens and he remains.

“We are not thinking about the possibility of Beckham but, even if Beckham arrived, we can assure that Figo remains at Real Madrid, not only this year but also the next year, until his contract has matured.

“Another possibility absolutely does not exist.”
