Luis Figo, who has been told he can leave Real Madrid, is considering a move to Qatar.

Fernando Hierro, one of Figo’s former Real team-mates, is at Qatari club Al Rayyan and they have expressed an interest in signing the 32-year-old.

“We know about Liverpool’s offer but we are able to offer much more money,” said Al Rayyan president Ali Al Moaimi.

Bolton Wanderers are another club to be linked with the winger, although manager Sam Allardyce admits that Figo’s wage demands would provide a formidable obstacle to a move.

“It’s flattering to be linked with one of the world’s greatest players,” said the Bolton boss. “In all honesty, it would be very difficult to afford a player of Figo’s calibre.”
