Portugal winger Luis Figo believes Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo can become one of the players of the tournament when the World Cup kicks off.

Internazionale veteran Figo is tipping Ronaldo to maintain the form that brought him international acclaim at Euro 2004.

“He has been working well and can be one of the stars of the tournament,” said Figo.

“Cristiano is having an incredible career.”

Figo is in the autumn of his career and is hoping to bow out on a high.

“I hope, in 40 years, I will be able to say I once lifted the World Cup,” he added. “We will give it our best chance.

“Our aim is always to make it to the final.”
