Juventus striker David Trezeguet will miss France’s vital World Cup qualifiers against Switzerland and Cyprus because of a thigh injury.

Trezeguet picked up the injury during his club’s 2-0 Serie A victory over Inter Milan at the weekend and Juventus said on Monday the player required 10 days rest.

France travel to Switzerland on Saturday and host Cyprus four days later at the Stade de France. Victory in Switzerland would guarantee them a place at next year’s finals in Germany.

Monaco defender Gael Givet is also out with a thigh injury and will be replaced in the squad by Bordeaux fullback Franck Jurietti.

France coach Raymond Domenech is also without Arsenal striker Thierry Henry, meaning Liverpool’s Djibril Cisse is now the squad’s only recognised striker.
