Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso could be out of action for a month after suffering a knee injury against Atalanta.

The Italian limped off during the 2-0 defeat and scans have shown that he sprained his left knee and also damaged ligaments.

Massimo Ambrosini also looks set to be ruled out for a month with the injury he suffered against Inter last week.

Coach Carlo Ancelotti, meanwhile, has criticised Italian referees, claiming Milan have been treated unfairly this season.

“I’m very angry, as this is the third or fourth time this season that we are penalised by the referee,” he complained.

“We were denied yet another penalty (for a foul on Daniele Bonera), which could have changed the match and there was a strange call in the second half made on Yoann Gourcuff.

“I like to think these things happen by chance, I believe in this system, and we have to have faith and hope. But unfortunately, they are happening to us with increasing frequency.”
