Out-of-favour Chelsea player Geremi has asked the club to sell him, with Middlesbrough a likely destination for the Cameroon international.

Geremi has found first team opportunuties hard to come by at Stamford Bridge, and admits he is looking to leave the club.

“I’m not satisfied at Chelsea because I am not playing,” said Geremi.

But Chelsea, with no need to sell, have claimed they will not be offloading anyone in the transfer window.

Geremi cost the Blues £6.9m when he joined them from Real Madrid but says his international prospects are being harmed by a lack of first-team football.

“(Jose) Mourinho is not giving me opportunities and I do not like being on the bench.

“I would prefer to leave and the option of Middlesbrough is excellent, because I have great memories of my stay there.”

Middlesbrough, where the 26-year-old spent a successful year on loan in 2002-03, would be happy to see the return of the versatile midfielder.
