Manchester United are understood to be considering selling Ryan Giggs to Inter in the summer in a swap deal that would see Brazilian striker Adriano come to Old Trafford.

Speculation over the Welsh winger’s future has been rife in recent months and according to a report in the Daily Telegraph, such speculation is not without foundation.

United may allow Inter to open negotiations with Giggs if Adriano – who is part-owned by Inter, but currrently playing Parma – moves to Old Trafford. The 21-year-old Brazilian had been expected to move to Inter in the summer.

According to a report in The Telegraph, Sir Alex Ferguson has already met Parma’s general manager Arrigo Sacchi to discuss a possible deal.

Inter president Massimo Moratti has admitted that Giggs is Inter’s number one transfer target for next season.

His Old Trafford counterpart, Manchester United chief executive Peter Kenyon, did little to dispel the Giggs speculation.

“It’s too soon to say whether we would even consider a bid for Ryan Giggs,” he said. “All we want to do at the moment is concentrate on this season.”
