Manchester United’s Ryan Giggs has signed a new one-year contract to stay at Old Trafford until 2011.

Giggs’ previous deal was due to expire at the end of the season, but he has been enjoying a renaissance in recent campaigns.

Giggs, who has played in over 820 games for United, is delighted to be staying at the club.

“I am delighted that I have agreed one more year,” Giggs told the club’s official website.

“I am enjoying my football more than ever and I am looking forward to hopefully winning more trophies with Manchester United.”

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson added: “Ryan deserves a new contract and I am sure that he will play for another two years.

“His form is fantastic at the moment and he is playing some of his best football.”

The Welshman is the club’s all-time leading appearance maker and surpassed Sir Bobby Charlton’s long-standing record in the 2008 UEFA Champions League.

The midfielder is also the most decorated player in the club’s history, having won 11 Premier League titles, two Champions League crowns and numerous cup medals.
