Toulouse have been hit by the news star striker Andre-Pierre Gignac will be out of action for at least three weeks.

Gignac suffered the injury during Sunday’s goalless draw against Lyon and tests have revealed the 24-year-old has a tear in his adductor muscle.

“It’s a really harsh blow but, as usual, we’re going to deal with it,” coach Alain Casanova told L’Equipe.

Reports suggest the forward will be out of action for three to four weeks, missing the Ligue 1 matches against Lorient, Paris St Germain and Lens as well as the Coupe de France tie against Brest.

Gignac will also miss France’s friendly against Spain on March 3.

“It’s true that it’s an important match,” said Gignac of the Spain clash. “But now you also have to put it into perspective. It could be a bad thing for a good thing. This nick will at least let me recover well and to continue to look after myself. I will come back stronger.”
