Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has reassured supporters that striker Alberto Gilardino is out of danger following his head injury against Parma.

The 24-year-old Italy striker clashed heads with opposition defender Massimo Paci in the 2-0 win at the weekend and was left with a wound to his forehead.

Although he was taken to hospital for scans, Ancelotti is confident the striker will be able to return to action soon.

“Gilardino is at the hospital under observation just to do further checks, but there aren’t any problems,” Ancelotti explained.

“He has three stitches, but the situation is not worrying.”

The win means that the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza side’s deficit is now down to minus two following their involvement in the Italian match-fixing scandal.

“In the first half we played with good concentration, whilst in the second we struggled because of Parma’s improvements and our own problems,” Ancelotti said.

“We suffered a number of quick counter attacks by Gialloblu, but the defence were solid.”
