Monaco and France midfielder Ludovic Giuly faces a race against time to be fit Euro 2004 after picking up a groin injury in the Champions League final.

The 27-year-old playmaker was substituted after 23 minutes of Wednesday’s final after suffering a groin strain.

“It does not look very good. He felt a sharp pain in his groin,” said Monaco coach Didier Deschamps.

“He will undergo medical tests within days. I hope he’ll be fit for the European Championship.”

France begin the defence of their European title against England on 13 June before meeting Switzerland and Croatia.
