Wolfsburg’s Brazilian striker Grafite has been named Germany’s footballer of the year in the annual poll organised by Kicker magazine and the German Sports’ Writers Association.

Grafiter, who scored 28 goals in 25 games as Wolfsburg won the German title, finished ahead of Mario Gomez, with Wolfsburg team-mate Edin Dzeko in third place.

Brazilian Diego, who left Werder Bremen for Juventus this summer, was fourth, with Franck Ribery of Bayern Munich fifth, and Wolfsburg’s Zvjezdan Misimovic in the list coming in sixth.

Felix Magath, who coached Wolfsburg last season before joining Schalke, was named the coach of the year award for the third time.
